Presentation detail layout and actions
Overview of the presentation detail page: hero panel, property rows, action buttons, five status banners (expired, unpublished changes, availability ended, draft/offline, live), analytics snapshot, slide gallery with per-slide extraction indicators, and the delete dialog.
Presentation detail page
Hero panel
The large panel at the top uses a two-section layout: a visual preview on the left and a white information area on the right.
Left side:
- A phone mockup previewing the first handyout page (if a handyout exists and its pages have loaded). The preview is built from the handyout's own section data, so it faithfully reflects the first page the audience sees when they open the handyout — including any sections such as Key Takeaways or FAQ that were added during generation.
- A slide thumbnail when no handyout exists yet.
- A skeleton placeholder while data is loading.
Right side — header:
- The presentation title and a status badge (Draft, Published, or Expired).
- A settings icon that navigates to the handyout settings form.
- An options icon that opens the delete confirmation dialog.
Right side — Properties section: A structured list of rows, each with an icon, a label, and a value.
| Property | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Slides | Total number of slides in the presentation |
| Created | Date the presentation was uploaded |
| Source format | The file format of the original upload — PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF |
| Views | Live view count from analytics (shows "None yet" when zero; a loading indicator while fetching) |
| Expires | Expiry date and days remaining, plus an Extend Expiration button that opens the handyout settings page where you can change the expiry |
Right side — Description section: The AI-generated summary of the presentation.
Action buttons
Available actions depend on whether a handyout has been created and whether it is published.
- Create Handyout — appears when no handyout exists. Links to handyout settings to start the generation process.
- Edit handyout — opens the handyout editor.
- Analytics — links to the Analytics dashboard filtered to this presentation. This button is active for any handyout that has been published at least once — including handyouts that have since expired. If a handyout has never been published, the button is disabled and a tooltip explains it will unlock after the first publish.
- Publish split button — publishes, unpublishes, or re-publishes the handyout. When clicked after publishing for the first time, the page navigates automatically to the QR code editor so you can customise and download the QR code for your slides.
Status banners
A contextual banner appears below the hero panel when the handyout needs attention. Only one banner is shown at a time. The banners are evaluated in the following order of priority:
| Status | Banner title | Banner description | Action link |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expired | This Handyout has expired. | Your audience can no longer open it. | Extend availability |
| Has unpublished changes | You have unpublished changes. | Your audience still sees the version from [date of last publish]. | Open editor |
| Availability ended | The availability of this Handyout has ended. | Extend it before you publish the Handyout. | Extend availability |
| Draft or never published | Ready to go live? | Publish your Handyout so your audience can access it via QR code. | Go to Editor |
| Live, no pending changes | — | — | — |
Expired means the handyout was previously live but its availability window has closed. Your audience can no longer open the link. Click Extend availability to set a new expiry date in the handyout settings and re-publish.
Has unpublished changes means the handyout is live but you have edited it since the last publish. The banner shows the exact date of the last published version so you know how old the audience's view is.
Availability ended is a distinct state from expired. It appears when the availability window configured in the handyout settings has already passed, but the handyout has not yet been re-published (or has never been published) under those dates. You must extend the availability window before you can publish. Click Extend availability to go to handyout settings and adjust the dates.
Ready to go live? appears when a handyout exists but has never been published (draft or offline state). Click Go to Editor to review and publish.
Extending a handyout's expiration
If the Properties section shows an expiry date, click Extend Expiration next to it. This takes you directly to the handyout settings page where you can adjust the expiry period and save. The same destination is reached by clicking Extend availability in the expired or availability-ended banners.
Analytics snapshot
If a handyout has been published at least once, a section below the banner shows a 30-day engagement chart and four stat tiles (Views, Avg. View Time, Comments, Reactions). The Reactions tile is displayed as a visual Reactions ratio card that shows the split between positive and negative reactions as a labelled bar. A Full analytics link in the top-right opens the full Analytics dashboard filtered to this presentation.
Handyouts that have expired still show the analytics snapshot and the Analytics button, because historical engagement data is available even after the handyout link has closed.
Slide gallery
When no handyout exists, or while a handyout is still generating, the lower section shows a grid of slide thumbnails in a scrollable strip. Clicking any thumbnail opens a modal with the full-size slide image, its table-of-contents title, and the AI-generated slide details.
Section and chapter labels shown in the strip are drawn from the handyout's generated section structure (when a handyout is being created or has been created). This means the groupings visible in the strip match the structure that will appear — or is already appearing — in the handyout the audience opens. If no handyout has been started yet, the strip shows slide thumbnails without section groupings.
Each thumbnail in the strip may display a per-slide extraction quality indicator. This indicator appears on slides where the AI's content extraction was limited — for example, on image-only slides or on slides from a PDF where readable text was sparse. When you see this indicator, it means the handyout module built for that slide relied more heavily on image content rather than extracted text, which can affect the depth of the generated summary or interactive elements.
Deleting a presentation
The options icon in the top-right of the hero panel opens a confirmation dialog. The dialog requires you to type the presentation name exactly before the delete button becomes active. A copy icon next to the name lets you copy it to the clipboard. Deleting permanently removes the presentation, all associated handyouts, slides, and uploaded files. This action cannot be undone.
